Based upon your input, ASSA's expertise will ensure the investment you make for you and your employees will produce the results you deserve...and expect.

Security training development and implementation

Do your flight crews have the skills training necessary to operate safely and efficiently in today's threat environment? It is usually difficult for training department personnel to stay abreast of current threats to aviation around the world and simultaneously develop and implement a wide range of other effective training programs. ASSA's exceptional security program was the only program certified without revision at a large U.S. commercial airline. It was used as the 'gold standard' for all other programs submitted for approval to the same Principal Security Inspector. Programs developed by ASSA's personnel who have actually experienced hijackings, bomb threats and disruptive passengers simply provide a better understanding of how to deal with such high-stress and dangerous events. Their experiences contribute realism and credibility that cannot be duplicated.

Like you, we've seen the numerous defensive tactics courses offered by a wide variety of people and organizations. We draw upon our experience in law enforcement and personal protection, along with an intimate knowledge of a wide variety of aircraft, for unarmed defensive techniques that can be effective in the close confines of aircraft cabins and cockpits. Our approach includes how to assist another crewmember in distress and how to manage security-related events in the cabin, including disruptive passengers who may require being physically restrained.

How much time and effort can you afford to spend addressing these very important areas? ASSA provides the time and the expertise to provide in-depth subject knowledge in development and implementation of products customized to fit your needs. We can work with your subject matter experts and project managers to accomplish those tasks, or we can work as an independent source to accomplish the same goals. Either way, we remain an unparalleled resource for you.

Behavioral Assessment of Threat (B.A.T.™)

How do you determine threats to your flights, whether they are medical, safety, or security related? ASSA's innovative Behavioral Assessment of Threat (BAT™) program, designed specifically to provide realistic skills training in short-exposure threat assessment, provides a seamless, 'layered' approach for all employee groups who have limited contact with the traveling public. The BAT team approach provides overlapping and interlocking training for ticket agents, security checkpoint personnel, gate agents and flight crews - we train as a team and perform as a team.

ASSA personnel recently conducted two successful BAT training workshops at the International Aircraft Cabin Safety Symposium in Los Angeles for crewmembers from around the world. The BAT training has been successfully conducted for TSA personnel, international airlines, corporations and training centers. Once trained, crewmembers and security personnel can use their 'BAT' skills to improve safety and security while creating a positive customer impression.

Discover for yourself why crewmembers and security personnel from around the world have found the BAT training some of the most useful training they have ever received.

Human factors in operations and training

Has your Crew Resource Management/HF training made a difference in the manner in which your organization operates? Are you caught in the doldrums of finding new or interesting topics to address in your recurrent training? Are there heel marks at the doorway to your classroom when CRM is scheduled? ASSA's cadre of current and former flight crewmembers can contribute a wealth of knowledge and information to aid you in your endeavors, whether that is for one or two of your workgroups, or the whole organization.

Serving as supervisors of CRM/HF training at numerous major US airlines, staff members have been responsible for developing and implementing a wide variety of programs and have selected and trained CRM/HF instructors and facilitators. CRM/HF courses have been developed for flight deck and cabin crews, check airmen, captain upgrade, special purpose training, dispatch, management, and other aviation personnel.

Staff members have facilitated CRM/HF courses for airlines, corporations, pilot job fairs, and the military. Audiences have included flight deck and cabin crewmembers from all types of corporate and commercial aircraft, in addition to single- and multi-place military aircraft from the USAF, USMC, ANG/Reserves, and Air Forces of other nations. Participants have included top management from major airlines and military generals.

With experience as check airmen in flight standards departments, staff members have been intimately involved with design and implementation of CRM/HF into initial and recurrent Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT) programs on a wide range of aircraft. Part of that process has involved train-the-trainer courses for LOFT instructors and check airmen.

The incorporation of CRM/HF into company philosophy addressing use of automation and crew coordination during abnormal and/or emergency conditions is also part of our experience.

Audits - operations and training

ASSA personnel can provide an unbiased, in-depth audit of your training and operations. The results of the strictly confidential audit will provide you with detailed information as to the findings and recommendations for improvement in deficient areas. We believe you want to know what you are doing well and to make improvements that will put you ahead of your competitors and help to keep your company safe and secure as you need it to be.

Qualified Speakers

ASSA continues to provide speakers and workshops for domestic and international CRM/HF, safety and security symposiums and conferences. We certainly enjoy the exposure, but more importantly, we are able to keep our fingers on the pulse of the industry. We are aware of current issues and how they are being addressed within the industry...all the more important when helping you meet the needs of your organization

Leadership Training

Leadership ability is crucial in today’s competitive business environment. As an instructor, trainer, supervisor, manager, director, vice president or president of the company, effort needs to be made to develop the leadership potential within you so that you can get the most out of yourself and your employees. ASSA personnel can assist you in this endeavor and will help make your career as personally enjoyable and growth filled as possible. Leaders are not born, but are made into leaders by a focus on leadership skill development. Let ASSA personnel help you develop into the leader that you were always meant to be.

Disaster preparedness

Aviation is inherently dangerous in many ways. We experienced one of the most horrific aviation disasters on 9/11. None of us were prepared for that event, but we learned many lessons that day about disaster preparedness. Terrorist events are not the only disasters for which preparation is needed, however. Earthquakes, floods, arson and fires, devastating weather such as hurricanes, typhoons and tornadoes, hijacking and kidnappings, explosions, and aircraft accidents are other disasters that demand our attention. All of these serious events impact the survival of personnel and assets, and the ability to conduct business.

Crisis management plan

How comprehensive, accurate and easy to use is your crisis management plan? These three attributes - comprehensive, accurate and easy to use - are what we look for when conducting disaster preparedness audits. We also determine how well flight department issues are woven into the overall corporate disaster plans, particularly when corporate headquarters in not co-located with flight operations, or when aircraft and personnel are dispatched worldwide.

Exercising the plan

The response to any disaster is measured in part by how well people are trained, how often they practice, and how recent was their exposure. Emergency responders - law enforcement, healthcare providers, and the military - practice, because we rely heavily upon them in times of crisis. As a training company, we know the value of practice and will encourage and help you exercise your crisis management plan.
